Sung by Armaan Malik & Pragati Nagpal, the refreshed melody is composed by Amaal Mallik
Mumbai, Aamir Khan’s ‘Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar’ is etched in the collective memory of legions of film lovers. ‘Pehla Nasha’ an iconic part of 90’s cinematic history was released in a new audio avatar as an earnest tribute to the original composers Jatin Lalit and lyricist Majrooh Sultanpuri. Originally voiced by Udit Narayan and Sadhana Sargam, ‘Pehla Nasha-2.0’ has been sung by Armaan Malik and Pragati Nagpal. The melody is composed by Amaal Mallik and penned by Rashmi Virag.
This promises to be another successful collaboration by Armaan, Amaal and Rashmi who have previously teamed up to give hits like ‘Main Rahoon Ya Na Rahoon’. This fresh version carries their stamp with additional evocative lyrics by Rashmi and soulful Qawali interludes. As composer Amaal says, “Rashmi’s lyrics and the additional mukhda enhance the romance of the original classic without altering its essence.
The purity of the emotions and the core melody have been preserved because they are perfect but we have given the orchestral arrangement a contemporary resonance. The fresh voices of Armaan and Pragati Nagpal have also added a delightful layer of youthfulness to the song and am sure everyone will just love this new version.”
The romantic video to be released soon, features Pragati Nagpal and Abhay Verma. Expressing his excitement at the launch, Armaan says, “Reimagining Pehla Nasha has been a dream come true. This song holds a special place in the hearts of so many, and I wanted to bring a fresh yet nostalgic touch to it. Pehla Nasha 2.0 is my tribute to the magic of first love, and I hope it resonates with listeners just as deeply.”
Amaal concludes, “I feel this version is the perfect soundtrack for any love story. It has 90’s soul but with 2025’s flavour and is just in time for Valentine’s Day. .” The audio has been released by India’s leading music label, Saregama.
