Amazon and MSME Commissionerate, Govt.of Gujarat, Sign MoU to Empower Local MSMEs for Global E-commerce Exports

Ahmedabad – 05 June, 2025: Amazon India, today announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Commissionerate, Government of Gujarat, to help boost exports from the state by digitizing lakhs of local MSMEs. Through this partnership, Amazon and the Commissionerate will work together to host workshops, training, and provide support for businesses in the state to launch and grow their exports via Amazon Global Selling.

Furthermore, under the MoU, Amazon will facilitate setting up Export Community – local networks that offer ongoing support and foster collaboration among exporters across India in Gandhinagar. It will also train members from the MSME Commissionerate on the requirements of e-ecommerce and e-commerce exports, who will in turn conduct training for MSMEs across the state.

The MoU was signed on the side-lines of Export Connect 2025 in Ahmedabad, a flagship event by Amazon Global Selling, in collaboration with the Federation of Indian Export Organizations (FIEO) and the Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC). The event brought together over 700 exporters from Ahmedabad and nearby regions, offering them strategic insights, resources, and guidance from Amazon Global Selling’s leadership to help expand their reach to international customers. With over 36.51 lakh MSMEs in the state, Gujarat has a strong foundation in exports. This makes the state a key region in Amazon’s broader efforts to unlock India’s e-commerce potential for exports.

A keynote address by Shri Sandip Sagale, MSME Commissioner at the Export Connect provided valuable policy perspectives, complemented by industry insights. The event offered practical guidance on leveraging Amazon Global Selling, encompassing registration, product listing, cross-border logistics, payment solutions, and advertising strategies, enabling attendees to tap into millions of global customers. Interactive breakout sessions, live Q&A, and one-on-one consultations with Amazon experts addressed key concerns, including compliance, ad management, and Amazon fulfilment centre logistics.

This year Amazon is also further strengthening its Export Communities initiative, providing year-round support through local offline networks. These communities guide sellers in navigating the export process, scaling their businesses, and connecting with mentors. Export Connect, in collaboration with partners like FIEO and AEPC serves as a bridge to the growing e-commerce export opportunity, empowering Indian sellers to reach global customers with ‘Made in India’ products to hundreds of millions of customers in 18+ Amazon global marketplaces across the world with the help of Amazon’s solutions like Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA), Amazon Global Selling, technology-based tools, resources, etc.

Following successful Export Connect events in Coimbatore (600+ exporters from Tirupur, Chennai, Karur, Salem, Madurai, Trichy, and Namakkal), Jaipur (400+ exporters from Udaipur, Ajmer, Kota, and Alwar), and New Delhi (1100 exporters from Delhi/NCR) featuring sellers from diverse categories like Apparel, Grocery, Electronics, luggage Art and Craft Supplies, Kitchen, Electronics, Beauty, Lawn and Garden, Baby products and Toys, the program continues its nationwide tour in Ahmedabad. These one-day conferences equip both new and experienced sellers with the tools to launch and scale global e-commerce exports through educational sessions, hands-on support, and direct access to Amazon experts.

More about Exports Communities

The Export Communities will function as accessible, local offline networks designed for MSMEs who are either currently engaged in e-commerce exports or planning to venture into this space. The communities will serve a dual purpose: assist prospective exporters in initiating their e-commerce export journey while simultaneously helping existing sellers scale their export operations through comprehensive support including guidance, training, mentorship, and hands-on assistance. These will be developed under DGFT’s leadership, and each Export Community will have participation from multiple stakeholders including government agencies, third party service providers, manufacturers, existing and prospective e-commerce exporters, export bodies, and Amazon Global Selling.
