Ather Rizta Vs 450- Which ride fits your needs?

Mumbai– Over the last couple of years, consumers have been increasingly upgrading from the traditional ICE two-wheelers, to technologically advanced EV two-wheelers. With this growing acceptance, OEMs are focusing on meeting the diverse needs of customers by segmenting their products. Everyone has different uses, riding patterns and requirements from their two-wheelers. Customers seek products that fit their specific needs in the best way possible.

Ather Energy, for instance, has created two distinct segments – performance and family, to meet the varying needs of its customers. For the longest time, such distinct categorisation of vehicles did not exist in the EV two-wheeler industry. Ather’s 450 series of scooters are perfect depictions of the performance scooter segment, whereas their newly launched Ritza, is the ideal scooter in the family segment.

But, how does one decide which scooter fits their needs?

Ather’s 450 series of scooters are performance scooters, built for those looking for an EV 2W that offers a more thrilling, yet stable ride that has a sleek and sharp look. A performance scooter is apt when a buyer seeks a ride that is exhilarating, and offers great speed and agility; a ride that can easily zip through traffic. The 450S and 450X, with a top speed of 90 kmph and 450 Apex, with a top speed of 100 kmph are designed to be head-turners.

They also have a futuristic look and come in vibrant colours that will surely catch your eye. Whether its speed, performance or the look and feel of the scooter, the 450 series is sure to leave a lasting impression. The warp mode on the 450X takes your scooter from 0-40 kmph in just 3.3 seconds and the warp+ mode on the 450 Apex accelerates from 0-40 kmph in just 2.9 seconds. The MagicTwistTM feature, which was introduced in 450 Apex, allows the rider to control the speed through the throttle; twist to accelerate, twist in the reverse direction to modulate deceleration at all charge levels. The ride handling on the 450X and the 450 Apex are so great, that they are often also referred to as the “Bike of scooters.”

In contrast, for someone who needs a scooter that prioritises the needs of their family, thus seeking comfort, convenience and safety, Ather’s Rizta, its first family scooter would be the perfect fit. This recently launched scooter marks Ather’s entry into the family segment. A family scooter is typically used by multiple members of the family.

The scooter is seen as “ours” and not “mine.” It is thus important for the scooter to be reliable and easy for all members of the family to use. The Rizta has a large and comfortable, thick seat that allows for an upright posture and makes the ride feel easy on the back. The seat is large enough to fit two grown adults and easily accommodate any baggage that they may be carrying.

Additionally, it comes with a storage space of 34 L. The backrest on the Rizta provides much needed support to the pillion, thus ensuring comfort of the riders. So, whether it’s your elderly parents who want to ride the scooter or your child who needs to be dropped to school, the Rizta is built to fit all their requirements. With a top speed of 80 kmph, an EV 2W like the Rizta, which is designed for family use cases, is easy to maneuver and handle.

Now, coming to one of the most important aspects one looks for in a family scooter – safety. An ideal vehicle in this segment will undoubtedly prioritise safety. Ather’s Rizta, for example, introduced SkidControlTM, a traction control system that ensures your vehicle doesn’t slip on low friction patches of the road such as gravel, oil, water or sand.

It also has features like Emergency Stop Signal (ESS), FallSafeTM and Live Location sharing (as part of the new AtherSatck 6), which are also available on the 450 series of scooters. The Emergency Stop Signal (ESS) rapidly flashes the tail light when you come to a sudden halt, so the vehicle behind you knows and any rear end collisions can be avoided and FallSafeTM switches off the motor once it detects a fall. The Live Location sharing feature of AtherStack 6, allows the rider to share their live location with a preset contact.

Both lines of scooters are adorned with technologically advanced features such Google maps for easy navigation and AtherStack 6 updates like Whatsapp on the dashboard.

Despite these co-shared features, the 450 series and Rizta cater to different segments of the electric scooter market. The 450 range is ideal for those seeking a performance-oriented, technology-driven experience, while the Rizta offers a practical and reliable solution for everyday commuting. The 450X and 450 Apex are packed with advanced technology and features, including a large, high-resolution touchscreen display, seamless smartphone connectivity, and a host of intelligent riding modes.

The Ather Rizta is also packed with a fully digital instrument cluster that gets Bluetooth connectivity, MagicTwistTM , reverse mode, AutoHoldTM, SkidControlTM and more and caters to the needs of the entire family. Both product lines – The 450 series and Rizta come with an optional 5-year warranty program, ‘Ather Battery Protect,’ which extends the battery warranty to 5 years/60,000 km. This program covers battery failures and guarantees a minimum of 70% battery health at the end of 5 years.
