Gujarat’s Urvish Patel wins ApplyBoard’s 2024 Int. Alumni of Impact award

Ahmedabad, ApplyBoard, the leading international student mobility platform, is thrilled to announce the winners of its 2024 International Alumni of Impact program. Now in its second year, the esteemed program recognizes 10 exceptional former international students who have leveraged their international education experience to create a significant positive impact worldwide.

Hailing from five countries around the world, the 2024 International Alumni of Impact winners are the embodiment of resilience, innovation, leadership, and generosity. One of this year’s winners is Urvish Patel, originally from Gujarat, who won the award for his work helping prepare international students for tech careers and find jobs in the industry. Urvish joins three other winners from India, who all studied in Canada and leveraged their education and experiences to create a meaningful difference around the world.

“Our 2024 International Alumni of Impact winners demonstrate the incredible potential of international students to shape the future,” says Meti Basiri, Co-Founder & CEO, of ApplyBoard. “Their stories of resilience, leadership, and dedication to their communities powerfully illustrate how education fosters global citizens. ApplyBoard is honoured to share Urvish Patel’s story, which is a powerful source of inspiration for future generations of international students.”

Urvish Patel moved from Nadiad, Gujarat to Canada and studied Computer Programming and Analysis at George Brown College in Toronto, Canada. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Urvish co-created Orbit 5, an AI platform that enhances resumes and boosts job prospects for international students. At Orbit 5, Urvish introduced AI-driven solutions that transformed resume writing for higher education institutions and agencies, significantly reducing job application rejection rates.

His work has greatly enhanced the career prospects of international job seekers by improving their visibility and access to employment opportunities in Canada and beyond. Through Orbit 5 he has organized transformative events like FutureMakers 2023, aimed at empowering the next generation of tech professionals. Formerly Urvish was also a software engineer professor at Centennial College, where he taught students to prepare for tech careers.

In recognition of his exceptional contributions, ApplyBoard will establish a one-time scholarship in Urvish’s name for an incoming international student at his alma mater, George Brown College. Since its launch in 2023, this initiative has provided $20,000 in scholarships, embodying ApplyBoard’s mission to make education accessible to students worldwide.
