Golden Jubilee Celebration of IFFCO-Kalol: Gujarat Reinforces Its Commitment to the Cooperative Movement
Kalol, Gujarat – The Golden Jubilee celebration of the IFFCO-Kalol Fertilizer Plant marked a significant milestone in India’s cooperative journey, with the foundation stone laid for a new Seed Research Center that is set to elevate Kalol’s status beyond fertilizer production.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah, speaking as the Chief Guest, emphasized Gujarat’s historic contribution to the cooperative sector, tracing its roots back to the visionary leadership of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Tribhuvandas Patel, Udaybhansinhji, and Vaikunth Mehta. “Prime Minister Narendra Modi has further strengthened the foundation of India’s cooperative values, and the credit for nurturing these ideals goes to Gujarat,” he noted.
Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel highlighted the government’s dedicated involvement in cooperative activities, stating, “The synergy between the government and cooperatives has brought impactful results in the state’s development.”
He affirmed the administration’s commitment to working with sincerity and dedication in this sector. IFFCO Chairman Dilip Sanghani, in his address, announced the expansion of Kalol’s role into agricultural innovation through seed research.
“Kalol will no longer be known only for fertilizer. With the establishment of the Seed Research Center, it will take a leading role in agricultural development as well,” he stated. He also reiterated the vision of spreading the cooperative ideals of respected Tribhuvandas Patel across the country, beginning from Gujarat’s soil.
The ceremony was graced by notable dignitaries including Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Agriculture Minister Raghavji Patel, Cooperation Minister Jagdish Vishwakarma, IFFCO MD Dr. Uday Shankar Awasthi, Members of Parliament Haribhai Patel and Mayankbhai Nayak, MLA Laxmanji Thakor, and many other cooperative leaders, representatives of cooperative societies, and a large public gathering.
The event not only celebrated 50 years of IFFCO-Kalol’s success but also marked a new beginning in strengthening India’s cooperative roots through research and innovation in agriculture.
