Gunvatta Gurukul by QCI Celebrates First Batch Graduation, Piyush Goyal Calls it a Memorable Day

Union Minister Piyush Goyal urged Gunvatta Gurukul Graduates and urges them to explore and follow their passion

7/01/2024, New Delhi: With an aim to strengthen the young force of India, nearly 20% of the total world youth population, Quality Council of India (QCI) celebrates the first convocation ceremony of the first batch of the Gunvatta Gurukul, a ground-breaking initiative aligned with the vision of preparing and propelling youth to become an integral part of the Developed India, a Viksit Bharat, by 2047. The event was graced by the presence of Shri Piyush Goyal, Hon’ble Union Minister for Commerce & Industry, Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution and Textiles, Government of India; Shri Jaxay Shah, Chairperson, QCI, and other dignitaries underscored the critical role initiatives like Gunvatta Gurukul play in shaping India’s future.

The initiative aims to empower young minds and equip them for success in the dynamic job market and provide them a platform to gain insights on the governance and public policies. In the first batch, 87 bright young professionals graduated with a recognition from QCI for their dedication and achievements. Furthermore, more than 60 percent  of the batch secured placements with QCI, Ravi Energie and QACA (Quality Austria Central Asia) .

While addressing the students, Shri Piyush Goyal, Hon’ble Union Minister for Commerce & Industry, Consume Affairs, Food & Public, Distribution and Textiles, said, “Skilled youth are the cornerstone of a thriving economy. By equipping young minds with industry-relevant skills and practical exposure, QCI through its programs like Gunvatta Gurukul is playing a vital role in addressing India’s skill gap and empowering our youth become active contributors to national progress.” He further added that the convocation of Gunvatta Gurukul took him back to the college days and reminded him the movie 3 Idiots.

Shri Jaxay Shah, Chairman, QCI, congratulated the graduated students and highlighted the importance of Gunvatta Gurukul. He said, “Gunvatta Gurukul is a crucial step that young graduates and professionals should embark on as it gives them a platform to learn while earning. Most importantly, we go beyond rote learning, fostering a holistic development that combines essential skills, leadership guidance, and real-world exposure. In this regard, we organized the tour of the New Parliament Building and Bharat Mandapam for our students in order to connect them with India’s quality infrastructure. This empowers our graduates to thrive in their chosen fields while ensuring quality and contribute meaningfully to India’s growth trajectory.”

Elaborating on the program’s unique approach, Shri Subroto Ghosh, Head PPID, QCI, said, “Gunvatta Gurukul’s curriculum goes beyond traditional textbook knowledge. It equips students with critical skills through experiential learning using case studies and field visits; and augmenting the understanding of the government structure, while also instilling strong ethical values and an understanding of quality principles. This holistic approach ensures our graduates are well-rounded and prepared for the evolving demands of the industry.”

The success of the first batch paves the way for the second batch, commencing on February 9, 2024. With its innovative approach and unwavering commitment to youth empowerment, Gunvatta Gurukul is poised to make a significant impact on India’s future.
