A decade ago open surgeries requiring large incisions were essential. However, recent advances over the past few decades have brought minimally invasive surgeries, such as Laparoscopy and Robotic surgery, to the forefront of cancer surgery.

Ravinder, the 60-year-old male patient, came from out of Gujarat to consult Dr. Mahavir Tadaiya at Marengo CIMS Cancer Centre. His reports indicated left-sided colon cancer. After carefully considering and weighing the benefits and drawbacks of various options, the patient chose Robotic surgery. He underwent a Robotic Colectomy procedure without encountering any intraoperative or immediate postoperative complications.

The state-of-the-art robotic system employed in the procedure offers numerous benefits, including to navigate delicate anatomical structures with unparalleled accuracy; minimally invasive to minimize trauma to surrounding tissues, reduced pain and faster recovery for the patient; enhanced visualization to enable better decision making during the procedure.

Dr Mahavir Tadaiya, Consultant GI and Gynae Onco-Surgeon, says, “This achievement represents a significant milestone in our on-going efforts to advance surgical care for GI cancer patients.
