WhiteOak Capital MF launches ‘Special Opportunities Fund’

  • The NFO opens on 15th May and closes on 29th May 2024
  • The fund focuses on opportunities arising out of situations spawning uncertainties in the Market

 Mumbai, 19th May 2024: WhiteOak Capital Mutual Fund today announced the launch of their new fund offer (NFO) – ‘WhiteOak Capital Special Opportunities Fund’, an open-ended equity scheme following special situations theme. The NFO opens on 15th May and closes on 29th May, 2024.

The primary objective of the Scheme is to generate long-term capital appreciation by investing in opportunities presented by special situations such as corporate restructuring (including mergers & acquisitions etc.), government policy and/or regulatory changes, technology led disruption and innovation, new trends, new & emerging sectors, companies /sectors going through temporary unique challenges and other similar instances.   The scheme is benchmarked against S&P BSE 500 TRI Index.

The fund will focus on identifying special situations in which stock’s current market price is significantly lower than its intrinsic (fair) value due to an unfavourable event or pessimism about new development. It adopts a bottom-up approach of investing, carefully selecting stocks and maintaining a diversified portfolio within the theme, ensuring a balanced investment strategy, by focussing primarily on specific news, events, incidence that can impact a particular stock, sector, or economy. The risk-reward profile makes this fund an attractive option for those who understand and are comfortable with the potential volatility.

Speaking on the new fund offer, Mr. Aashish Somaiyaa, CEO of WhiteOak Capital Asset Management Limited said, “Winston Churchill once has said that ‘Never let a good crisis go to waste’.
