Marengo CIMS Reaches Milestone with Five Organ Donations in One Day, Saving Five Lives

 Ahmedabad: Monday, 26th June 2024: Marengo CIMS Hospital successfully coordinated the donation of five organs, resulting in five life-saving transplants in a single day. This achievement underscores the hospital’s reputation as a Center of Excellence for Organ Transplants. the hospital conducts as many as five organ transplants under the same roof such as heart, lungs, kidneys, liver, and bone marrow.

The patient, a 35-year-old, resident of Bhabhar, Gujarat lost his life in a road accident and was declared brain dead by the doctors. The team of counsellors connected with the deceased’s family who agreed to the utmost humane act of donating the organs of their loved one. The family of the donor who was referred to as a patient at Marengo CIMS Hospital, exhibited extraordinary generosity and compassion, providing a second chance at life for those in critical need of transplants.

Retrieving organs from a deceased donor and transplanting them to recipients demands the highest level of coordination of medical and support teams. The patient’s heart, kidneys, liver, and cornea were successfully harvested, and resulted in saving lives of multiple recipients, underscoring the critical importance and impact of organ donation. Four successful transplants (1 Heart, 2 Kidneys, 1 Liver) were conducted by a dedicated team of 35-40 doctors and 30 paramedical staff, with expertise to ensure the best outcomes for the recipients at Marengo CIMS Hospital.
