Dy. PM of New Zealand graces the historic occasion of GCCI and NZBCCI signing their first MoU,

alongside the installation of our Hon. Treasurer, Sudhanshu Mehta, as Chairman of the NZBCCI Bharat Chapter.

Deputy Prime Minister Rt Hon. Mr. Winston Peters of New Zealand graced the event, which aimed to enhance cooperation and partnership. The digital signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) and New Zealand Bharat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NZBCCI) stands as a proud moment for GCCI, marking a significant milestone in strengthening economic ties between New Zealand and India, especially in Gujarat.

In his address, Deputy Prime Minister Mr. Winston Peters emphasized the government’s commitment to supporting diverse communities and promoting trade initiatives that benefit both nations. He praised the vision and leadership of India’s Prime Minister, Shri Narendrabhai Modi. He noted that the establishment of the NZBCCI exemplifies the shared dedication to strengthening economic partnerships and embracing cultural diversity, reflecting the spirit of collaboration that GCCI proudly champions.

Ms. Neeta Bhushan, High Commissioner of India to New Zealand, addressed the audience, highlighting India’s transformational journey towards becoming a $5 trillion economy within the next three years. She emphasized that over the past decade, the Indian economy has made significant strides, positioning the country as a burgeoning manufacturing hub. Ms. Bhushan’s insights reflect the dynamic growth and potential of India, underscoring the importance of international partnerships in realizing this vision.

Shri Mahesh Bindra, Chairman, NZBCCI, stated that the aim is to open doors to India, which is a major contributor to the global economy and the world’s largest milk producer. He emphasized that the relationship between India and New Zealand is on a new path, focusing on building partnerships that benefit all through strong relationship-building, one business at a time.

Shri Sudhanshu Mehta, Hon. Treasurer, GCCI and Chairman, NZBCCI Bharat Chapter stated that the inclusion of ‘Bharat’ signifies a commitment to India’s cultural heritage. He emphasized that NZBCCI aims to promote growth in sectors such as technology, infrastructure, and sustainable energy. The signed Memorandum of Understanding with GCCI represents a dedication to fostering meaningful partnerships.

Shri Apurva Shah, Vice President of GCCI, stated that the MoU between both chambers strengthens economic and cultural ties between New Zealand and India, fostering collaboration and growth. With a 75-year legacy, the Gujarat Chamber of Commerce & Industry looks forward to enhancing trade and investment through this partnership. He highlighted Prime Minister Shri Narendrabhai Modi’s vision for a “Viksit Bharat” by 2047, aiming to position India as a global powerhouse, and noted that direct flight connectivity will significantly boost tourism between the two countries.
