Life changing experience for students of GLS University at Old age Home

Ahmedabad, “Caring is a heroic, simple deed.” In today’s culture, we frequently overlook a sizable segment of the population – the elderly. This is unfortunate because they provide a wealth of insightful knowledge and guidance.

A similar sentiment is shared by the Faculty of Commerce – GLS University with the slogan of “CHARITY WITH SMILE” Under the Banner of Prayas , the institute is actively involved in making a positive impact on society. To celebrate the best days of the year, we visited an old age home.

On 27th December, 2025, students from the Faculty of Commerce – GLS paid a visit to Smt. Maniben Tribhovandas Matru Gruh Old Age Home near Anjali cross road. The students interacted with the residents and learned the role of sensitivity in human life. The gathering had a gala time singing songs, Poems, Quiz conducted from Mahabharata and Ramayana.

The students also handed out healthy and fresh fruits, ceiling fans, organic fertilizers and saplings for their gardens, LED lights. The residents looked blissful. Both the students and the residents gained knowledge by sharing Quiz, yogic knowledge also & experiences of life.

The students were shocked and saddened upon hearing about the fate of living in an old age home where you are forced to adapt and reside with strangers is quite difficult. However, over time, all residents live happily and peacefully with a sense of oneness between them. It was quite encouraging to observe how friendly the residents were to one another. They were taking advantage of every opportunity to have fun and were highlighting their advantages.

They are quite unique people to be around. The visit was a life-changing experience as it was filled with many emotions and sentiments along with a bunch of valuable life-lessons. The old age homes are the last hopes of old people to lead better lives. Manners and help make a better world for everyone. To paraphrase, “They may not remember the words you said for a long time, but they will always remember how you made them feel.”

With the students of FOC, Dr. Bhavna Parwani, Dr. Devyani Chatterji and Dr. Shimoni Trivedi have also visited the old age home.
