ANSHUKAM is FLO’s tribute to India’s textile heritage,

uniting skilled artisans and visionary designers under one roof.

 New Delhi September 12, 2024  FICCI Ladies Organisation (FLO) an apex body of business women in the country organised a day long  Textile and handloom event  titled   ‘Anshukam’. with the theme ‘Weaving Stories Through threads’ to help weavers and artisans from various parts of the country to interact with  with buyers both national and international , designers, exporters and e-commerce.

The ‘Anshukam’ event with about 90 stalls put up by artisans and designers showcasing latest trends in textiles and handlooms from various states in the country has been organised to provide market linkages to manufacturers of handloom and textiles and introduce new products and services The major highlights of the event included series of fashions shows, talk shows , screening of documentaries, Ikebana demonstration inspired by Textiles, Organic dying work, textile painting show, and cultural events

“Textiles have long been one of the oldest and most dynamic industries in our country, dating back to ancient times, yet continuing to grow and evolve with changing needs.

The textile sector plays a significant role in our country’s economy, and it has the economic potential to empower livelihoods in a sustainable manner. By 2029, the Indian textile industry is projected to grow beyond US$ 209 billion.At FLO, we believe in being thought leaders and change-makers. One of our key initiatives is to empower social entrepreneurship and foster a thriving environment for our artisans and weavers.” Said Ms Joyshree Das Verma, National president, FICCI Ladies Organisation.(FLO)

“The Indian handloom and handicraft sector is a crucial driver of the ‘Atma Nirbhar Abhiyaan’ and ‘Vocal for Local’ campaigns initiated by the Government of India. FLO has actively contributed to promoting these campaigns, working tirelessly to unlock the potential of these sectors and create opportunities for artisans across India. In line with this, FLO has established a dedicated vertical for promoting Indian textiles, particularly handlooms and handcrafted garments.” Ms Verma said .

Aa 16 member business women leaders delegation from the Philippine Women’s Economic Network (PhilWEN) led by Ms Maria Cristina Cunepcion also visited the textile show . An MoU was also signed between FLO & PhilWEN under the aegis of India ASEAN Women’s Business Forum (IAWBF) for strenghthenin women’s economic power during the event.

A fashion show by Lucknow based Dhaaga & Co by Eminent Awadhi designer Savnit Gurnani showcasing the Awadh art of Chikankari was the major highlight of the event

The others who were present on the occasion included Ms Rashmi Sarita, Executive Director, FLO, Ms Poonam Sharma, Sr Vice President, FLO , Ms Vinita Bimbhet , PAst President FLO,  Madhuri Halwasiya, Event Chair,Swati Verma and Roopa Patel, Textile initiative heads, FLO.
