GLS – FOC students visit Sri Sathya Sai Heart Hospital as a humble ‘PRAYAS’ to spread smiles.

Ahmedabad, Ander the community connect initiative, ‘PRAYAS: Charity with Smile’ , 25 students, along with faculty members, visited Sri Sathya Sai Heart Hospital near Kasindra village on February 15, 2025. This hospital was selected for the visit as it exemplifies true social service. At a time when healthcare has become an industry driven by profit, access to quality medical treatment remains out of reach for many. People often fear illness not just for the physical suffering it brings, but for the financial strain it imposes on their families.
GLS-FOC is committed to instilling strong values in its students, encouraging them to become socially responsible and compassionate individuals. In line with this vision, students actively engage in charitable initiatives. Sri Sathya Sai Heart Hospital provides free treatment to heart patients, regardless of their background or faith. Located near Ahmedabad, the hospital specializes in treating children with mild to severe heart conditions, offering world-class medical care, free of cost. In addition to treatment, the hospital ensures that patients’ families receive free accommodation and meals for the duration of their stay.
Demonstrating their generosity and empathy, the students of GLS-FOC contributed from their own pocket money to create over 80 gift hampers filled with toys, stationery, and other useful items for the young patients.
Dr. Manoj Bhimani, the Managing Director of the hospital, personally addressed the students, sharing inspiring insights and reinforcing the importance of selfless service. The visit was an eye-opening experience, leaving the students deeply moved. They were particularly struck by the hospital’s unique model, which operates without a cash counter, as well as by the kindness and dedication of Dr. Bhimani and the hospital staff. Their warm and patient explanations created an atmosphere of positivity, making the visit both enlightening and deeply fulfilling. This experience was not just a lesson in charity but a meaningful moment that left a lasting impact on the students’ lives. Faculty members Dr. Keyur Vohra, Dr. Dr. Bimal Solanki, Dr. Bhavin Bhatt, Dr. hard Patel and Dr. Bhavik Swadia co-ordinated the entire project.
