“I Would Love to Make ‘Trishul- 2’ with Amitabh Bachchan,” says Anand Pandit

The veteran producer says he will do his best to manifest this dream project

On his 60th birthday, veteran producer Anand Pandit recounted how he came to Mumbai with a dialogue from ‘Trishul’ echoing in his mind. From an ardent fan who wanted to catch a glimpse of Amitabh Bachchan outside his bungalow to becoming his  close friend and creative collaborator, Pandit has come full circle and now he wants to manifest his greatest dream starring his idol.

“I have watched ‘Trishul’ almost 60 times over the years and it impacted me deeply  when it was released. The story of a man who comes with nothing to a big city and makes it big in the construction business inspired me immensely. To recall all this on my 60th birthday in the presence of Mr Bachchan was an almost surreal experience. ‘Trishul-2’ will be my tribute to the man who began to influence my life even before he met me in person. ‘Trishul’ was a  cinematic masterpiece and it was Amit Ji’s performance that ultimately motivated me to move to Mumbai and build a legacy from scratch.”

Pandit says,  ‘Trishul -2’  will narrate how life unfolded for Vijay after being accepted in the family fold. “It would be fascinating to look back at his life in retrospect and find out if he lived happily ever after with Geeta, if his own family grew and if he was able to heal his wounds. So many  stars from the original cast have passed on but I can’t wait to tell the story that may have unfolded in the decades after the final scene unspooled before the audience in 1978.”

Pandit shares that the  prospect of collaborating with Amitabh Bachchan to bring this project to life  is not just a professional aspiration but a deeply personal dream. As he says “I wish to pay homage to the film that shaped my destiny. This will also be my heartfelt tribute to a superstar who has meant the world to me and has inspired generations of fans with his cinema and his life.”
