GCCI organized an interaction with the Japanese delegates,

GCCI organized an interaction with the Japanese delegates representing The Shizuoka Chamber of Commerce & Industry and Hamamatsu Chamber of Commerce & Industry with the support of Shri Mukesh Patel, Honorary Consul of Japan in India on 24th December, 2024.

The main participants in the meeting were Mr. Kishida Hiroyuki, Chairman, The Shizuoka Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Saito Kaoru, President, Hamamatsu Chamber of Commerce and Industry,  Kawai Masashi, Managing Director, The Hamamatsu Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Odagi Toshiro, Section chief, The Hamamatsu Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Toshihiro Kaneko, Acting Consul, Consulate-General of Japan in Mumbai and Shri Mukesh Patel, Honorary Consul of Japan in India, Gujarat and Past President, GCCI.

GCCI Sr. Vice President Shri Rajesh Gandhi extended warm welcome to the GCCI Office Bearers and industry leaders from Japan and thanked them for their presence. He remarked about the special ties and relations Japan & Gujarat enjoys since the tenure of the then Prime Minister Honorable Mr. Shinzo Abe and Honorable Prime Minister Shri Narendrabhai Modi when he was Honorable Chief Minister of Gujarat.

He mentioned about crucial role that GCCI has been playing over more than 7 decades in being the bridge between Government and Trade & Industry as also providing all support to foreign delegations in their networking efforts here. He expressed hope that the meeting with Shizuoka Prefecture and Hamamatsu City as well as both chambers of commerce will culminate into future business liaison. He thanked Shri Mukesh Patel, Hon. Consul of Japan in India for his support in organizing this meeting.

In his press briefing, Shri Mukesh Patel highlighted that Shizuoka Chamber and Hamamatsu Chamber in Japan, with a delegation of 76 members including the Governor, Mayor, and Chamber Chairpersons, are emerging as key economic hubs. Both the Chief Minister of Gujarat and the Prime Minister of India have emphasized the importance of these cities in strengthening bilateral ties.

The agenda for collaboration focuses on enhancing partnerships between Gujarat and Japanese companies, as well as proposing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to be signed during the 2025 World Expo in Osaka.

He also felicitated the members of the delegation for their visit. This initiative supports ongoing India-Japan discussions on economic security and technological growth, aiming to boost trade, investment, and skill development. The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Shri Navroz Tarapore, Chairman of the GCCI International Trade Taskforce.
