Small businesses are the centre of life and economy in India

Special on National Small Industry Day 30 August

Ahmedabad, National Small Industry, a celebration of entrepreneurship, is an annual festival celebrated on 30 August. It is dedicated to promoting small businesses across the country and providing job opportunities to the unemployed. This day is celebrated to promote the overall development and capabilities of small industries. This day is dedicated to encourage small businesses across the country.

Man has been associated with enterprise since ancient times, if it is said that even before becoming civilized, man was an entrepreneur, then it will not be an exaggeration, Even though the enterprise of that time was in an undeveloped disarray. Due to this entrepreneurial nature of man, they had been successful in making weapons from wood and stone, now they have been successful in making aeroplanes and rockets, Thus, the present time is the industrial era, Which contributes significantly to the economic development of country.

India has always flourished on the ideas of entrepreneurship. It is a land of dreams and opportunities where anything is possible, the pursuit of aspirations has been very inspiring in different forms throughout history! Which are run by people with true courage and heart! And who themselves have the desire to succeed, their lives are so inspiring that they teach everyone how we can achieve success.

The backbone of India’s economic future: Small business are the centre of life and economy in India! All the businesses here were done on a small scale, then the country progressed rapidly and as the small businessmen flourished, their contribution to the economy of India increased. Today, there are 66 million MSME sector businessmen in India and this has created more than 22 crore jobs! People living on small farms in rural India prepare everything from food and clothes to soap themselves.

To protect the interests of small businesses in the country, the government has made many arrangements for the protection of small industries at the state and central level.

To meet the challenges of globalization, the government has defined micro, small and medium industries and MSME acts & policies have been introduced for this to facilitate the development of these entrepreneurs!

The Centre has formally declared 30th August as National Small Industries Day and this day recognises the contribution of small enterprises in the development of the country and is an opportunity for the Central and State Governments to encourage and support small industries.
National Small Industries Corporation is the nodal agency of the Ministry of MSME, Government of India, which has been engaged in promoting the development of small industries since 1955. It is the only nodal agency under the Ministry for the development and support of small industries.

MSME was established on 9th May 2007 by merging the former Ministry of Small Industries and the Ministry of Agro Industries. Today MSME has become the largest employment providing sector in the country after agriculture. While many options related to the financial sector are available, many venture capital firms have also come up for startups. They provide the necessary facilities for new businesses and new ideas to flourish.

The role of women entrepreneurs has also increased in our small industry system. Small scale industries comprise of small-scale activities related to production, manufacturing and service provision.

India has 66 million MSMEs which have a significant impact by contributing to employment generation, economic upliftment, rural development and regional balance. In Gujarat, MSMEs contribute to more than 72% of employment. In the state of Gujarat, 1.41 crore jobs are generated in MSME sector alone, which contributes to 62% of total MSME employment in India while in other emerging economies it contributes to 77%.

Govt is committed to facilitate Entrepreneurship, skills and resource utilization in small scale industries to develop entrepreneurial talents in rural communities with limited opportunities, thereby promoting rural development. Reasonable incomes generate employment in underdeveloped areas thereby improving regional balance in overall human development. Small scale industries prevent urban congestion caused by centralized large industries.

National Small Industry Day is a powerful reminder of the indispensable role played by small industries in India’s journey. Let us reflect on the relentless journey of these entrepreneurs and their unwavering commitment to shape India’s economic landscape! The government is honouring small businesses that have brought about outstanding growth or positive social or environmental change.

Supporting small businesses is important for the country as almost half of the goods exported from India are manufactured in small-scale industries. They provide a significant boost to economic activity which is essential for a developing nation like ours. The government has established it on the global platform through various schemes, credit to which go to Startup India, Z Scheme, Digital India, Aatm Nirbhar Bharat, Vocal for Local, etc.

The best way to celebrate National Small Industry Day is to follow the call of “Vocal for Local”. If we buy goods (services) from small businesses, they will flourish and employ more people! This is the key of becoming India as a Nation to become Aatm Nirbhar.

The Prime Minister has successfully launched various schemes to encourage small scale industries to realize the dream of making the country self-reliant, due to which today its contribution to the Indian economy is 45% in exports, 40% in production, 80% in industrial production.
