The second edition of Chargezone’s premier technical conference “The New Energy Conclave” held

Mumbai, The New Energies Conclave, held on 21st June 2024, marked its second edition as a premier technical conference dedicated to the future of renewable and sustainable energies. This event brought together a diverse group of experts, researchers, industry leaders, policymakers, and investors from around the globe. Organized by the Indian Electrical & Electronics Manufacturers’ Association (IEEMA) and co-hosted by ChargeZone, Billione, and Siemens, the conclave served as a dynamic platform for exploring the latest advancements, challenges, and opportunities in the energy sector.

This year’s conclave focused on emerging energy technologies and infrastructural advancements crucial to shaping India’s sustainable energy landscape. The primary objectives were to stimulate discussions on the utilization of green hydrogen as a versatile energy carrier, the development of commercial e-mobility and its supporting charging infrastructure, and the enhancement of resilient grids. ChargeZone, a leading company in the EV charging sector, played a significant role as a co-host, aiming to foster collaboration and knowledge sharing among stakeholders to accelerate the transition towards a low-carbon energy future.

The conference was structured into three distinct sessions, each dedicated to a pivotal aspect of the sustainable energy transition. The first session, “India’s Green Hydrogen Revolution,” delved into the latest advancements in hydrogen production. It examined hydrogen’s potential as a clean energy source, the economics surrounding its use, the regulatory frameworks needed to support its growth, and the collaborative efforts required among industries, research institutions, and policymakers. The session highlighted green hydrogen’s role in reducing carbon emissions and its potential applications across various sectors, including transportation, industry, and power generation.

The second session focused on the “Role of Commercial E-Mobility & Charging Infrastructure.” It addressed the increasing importance of commercial electric vehicles (EVs) in reducing urban emissions and dependency on fossil fuels. Key topics included the strategies for standardizing commercial EV charging infrastructure, the development of policies and regulations to support this infrastructure, and ensuring the safety and reliability of the sector. The session highlighted the need for a robust charging network to support the growing number of commercial EVs and discussed innovations in charging technology and business models.

The final session, “Resilient Grids,” explored the importance of grid resilience in the context of integrating renewable energy sources. Discussions covered strategies for optimizing grid resilience through Distributed Energy Resources (DERs) and the challenges and opportunities presented by integrating new energy technologies into existing grid infrastructures. The session emphasized the need for smart grid technologies and advanced grid management systems to ensure a stable and reliable energy supply amidst the increasing penetration of variable renewable energy sources.

Prominent figures in the industry contributed to the depth of the discussions. Mr. Ravindra Mohan, Director of Business & Strategy at ChargeZone, and Mr. Sanjeev Kulkarni, CTO of Billion Electric Mobility, were among the notable speakers and panelists. Mr. Kulkarni also chaired the second session.

The conclave served as a platform for networking and collaboration, allowing stakeholders to exchange ideas and forge partnerships aimed at accelerating the transition to sustainable energy. By addressing key topics such as green hydrogen, commercial e-mobility, and grid resilience, the event highlighted the multifaceted approach required to achieve a low-carbon energy future.

In conclusion, the second edition of the New Energies Conclave succeeded in creating a vibrant and insightful forum for advancing the dialogue on sustainable energy technologies. Through the concerted efforts of organizers, co-hosts, and participants, the event underscored the critical importance of innovation, collaboration, and regulatory support in driving the transition to a sustainable energy landscape in India and beyond.
