“The first two to three months were the hardest,” recalls Aarti. “Everything was unfamiliar, and without the right support, it felt overwhelming. What kept us going was the belief that we could turn this struggle into growth.” The idea of going back to India crossed their minds more than once.

She remembers spending evenings poring over university assignments while simultaneously figuring out part-time job options. Hardik, meanwhile, juggled night shifts at a grocery store while sending out countless applications, determined to find a role that aligned with his professional aspirations.

That persistence paid off. Hardik eventually secured a position as a Registry Officer at a college, a turning point in their journey. Aarti went on to join the London Fire Brigade in HR, one of the UK’s most respected public organizations. She also collaborated on research projects, winning recognition as the Best Presenter at the ROGE-25 Conference at Oxford University. Today, she teaches as a lecturer at a UK university, guiding students both academically and personally.
